A rescue organization will be
established, headed by CM
The GBLA, on third day of its 19th
session, unanimously approved the Gilgit – Baltistan
Emergency Act 2011. Discussing the importance and details of the act,
Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affaris, Wazir Shakil said that
the precious lives could have been saved had there be prior legislation in
Gilgit – Baltistan. He further said that the concept of rescue services is
successfully being implemented in all parts of the country and the same has
been initiated in Skardu and Gilgit, on pilot basis.
He informed that the Punjab
Government has promised to provide logistic and training support for the rescue
team (Rescue 1122).
He further briefed the house
that the rescue service will have preparedness for 24-hours response. The
rescue organization will have a director general and it will be headed by Chief
Minister, as head of the Emergency Council. He also said that GBDMA and other organizations will be members of the council. The provincial minister also hinted at
establishment of an “Emergency Academy”, under the Rescue organization.
